ServiceNow PPM Project Portfolio Management

ServiceNow PPM is for managing all aspects of the Idea – Demand – Project – Program/Portfolio implementation lifecycle. It works well for any business as well as IT projects.

The standard system functionality is powerful, however, capabilities to customize it and add additional workflows, functionalities, and reporting make it a very useful tool in the enterprise work management area.

PPM covers aspects like:
Idea management – where any employee can raise ideas, which can be upvoted, discussed, commented and eventually promoted to demands;
Demand management covers the entire demand lifecycle from demand creation, to screening, qualification and implementation eventually promoting it to the projects;
Project management covers all the aspects needed in management of the projects – tasks, requirements, risks/issues, financials, resources, cost, business case, time claiming, ect management. Project can be waterfall as well as Agile or hybrid in nature;
Program management is geared towards management aspects on the Program-level delivery;
Portfolio management, geared towards financial and business decisions of portfolio prioritization and budget management;
– Powerful reporting and dashboard tools, like Investment Portal, geared towards the management of Programs and Portfolios on the Enterprise level.

The value of PPM can be further increased by integrating it with other enterprise tools, like e.g. ERP systems for financial data exchange.

There is another ServiceNow course package, geared towards ServiceNow implementation specialists, called PPM Implementation. However, PPM implementation builds on top of knowledge of the Project Portfolio Management Fundamentals course material. So even if you are already a ServiceNow implementation partner and know ServiceNow as a system, Marius would recommend starting with the PPM Fundamentals course, as directly going to PPM Implementation would be way too technical and missing some important fundamental concepts.

Marius Jan of FocusNow has just completed the ServiceNow PPM Project Portfolio Management course package and is ready to help you in your ServiceNow journey. 🚀
